Planning Well Means Planting Well

JIM CARLSON, VICE PRESIDENT OF AGRONOMY

A successful planting season is only as great as the preparation behind it. Given the challenges we faced last fall, including an incomplete ammonia application, this spring will be exceptionally busy. With the increased demand for urea—roughly two tons of urea for every ton of ammonia that didn’t go down—solid planning now will be key to a smooth start in the field.

We strongly encourage growers to connect with their agronomy account managers now to finalize farm plans and get on the books. The earlier we can plan, the better we can allocate resources, schedule fertilizer and chemical applications, treat seed and deliver on time. We’re hoping for an early being to the season so we can all “get after it”.

Enhancing Efficiency Through the UFC Customer Portal

Planning ahead isn’t the only thing that can help bring less hiccups to your planting season. Leveraging the technology right in your pocket helps, too. Our UFC Customer Portal continues to improve, providing growers with easier access to farm plans (coming soon), invoices, purchase history, and online payments. One positive change coming this year is the ability to complete and sign farm plans digitally. This added step not only provides clarity for growers but also aligns your plans to our agronomy team’s execution. While not every grower will use the portal, we expect a high adoption rate, making farm planning and communication more efficient for everyone. If you haven’t explored the portal yet, now is a great time to get familiar with it before the season is in full swing.

Always Looking Ahead

As we face a spring marked by growing demand and complex logistics, early planning allows you to be two steps ahead. Whether it’s locking in your schedule with us and getting the right supplies, fine-tuning your farm plans with your agronomy account manager, or making the most of the UFC Customer Portal, taking proactive steps now will help your spring to be less stressful and more efficient—something we could all use more of.

Your continued trust and partnership with UFC means a lot to us. Here’s to working together this spring and a successful planting season.
