Breaking Ground on Progress: Updates from Klossner and Beyond

Jason Tews, Vice President of Grain & feed

Last fall, we outlined our plans for expanding the Klossner facility, and I’m happy to share that work is well underway. Concrete has been poured, and we’re on track to have the site ready to go before harvest.

One of the biggest changes you’ll notice is the rerouted traffic flow. We’ve reworked how trucks will move through the property. They’ll get probed and weigh in at the new scale on the north end of the property, then proceed south through the grain receiving pits, then weigh out on the existing scale and get their scale ticket on the scale same as this past year before exiting the property onto County Road 5 . This new layout will reduce congestion and eliminate the backup risk we’ve seen during peak times when trucks spill out onto the highway.

Looking ahead, MNDOT has a roundabout planned for the intersection next to Klossner in 2026. While this won’t affect our current project, it’s another step forward in improving safety in the area.

Investing in Feed Operations

We’re also focused on investments in our feed operations at Klossner. These upgrades might not be visible to customers, but they’ll allow us to work more efficiently and set the stage for future growth. We expect to make progress on this side of the business in the coming year, with plans to complete it by 2026.

Looking Ahead

We appreciate your patience and support as we continue to make progress on these projects. Our investment in Klossner is not just about today—it’s about positioning UFC to meet the needs of our growers for years to come. If you’ve got questions about grain or feed, don’t hesitate to reach out.

We’ll be sure to share more updates as construction continues, and we’re excited to see this all come together before harvest.
