Lafayette Grain Elevator Update

To our valued customers,

Beginning May 5th, United Farmers Coop will begin the process of permanently closing our Lafayette grain elevator. This decision hasn’t come lightly, and we’re committed to being transparent about what’s ahead and why.

For the past several years, we’ve had ongoing conversations about the future of the Lafayette elevator. During that time, more operations have steadily moved to our modernized facilities in Winthrop and Klossner. Now, with the new bin project in Klossner scheduled for completion ahead of this fall’s harvest, we believe the time is right to make a full transition.

What You Need to Know:

Grain Deliveries

Starting May 5, we will no longer post grain bids for Lafayette. However, we’ll continue accepting scheduled deliveries through May 30. After that, all UFC grain deliveries will need to be made to Klossner or Winthrop.

Open Store & Delayed Pricing Grain (DP)

If you have grain still on open store or DP at Lafayette, we’ll use the current spread from Winthrop when pricing it. Our grain desk in Winthrop is ready to walk you through how that works and help with any decisions you need to make. If you have questions, you can contact them at 507-232-1049.

Existing Contracts

If you’ve already sold grain to Lafayette, someone from our grain team will be in touch soon to discuss next steps and ensure a smooth transition.

We’re grateful for your years of partnership and support at the Lafayette elevator. It’s been a key part of our history, and we’re proud of the improvements we’ve made in Klossner and Winthrop to continue supporting your operation for years to come.

Thank you for your continued support and patronage.

Sincerely,

Jason Tews, VP of Grain and Feed
