Diesel Island at Winthrop Reopens for Member-owners

Darv Turbes, Vice President of Energy

With more grain heading to ethanol plants this season, we’re reopening the diesel fuel island at the Winthrop grain elevator. If you’ve been around a while, you might remember using it before. It’s making a return to offer some extra convenience for our owner-members, especially during the busy hauling months.

Clear diesel will be available 24/7, right at the unmanned pump. You can use your UFC member card at the pump and get your 5-cent-per-gallon discount, or pay by credit card if that’s easier. Either way, it’s about keeping your operation moving without the extra detours.

We’re planning to have the pumps up and running by mid-April—just in time to match the increase in grain movement. There’ll also be a sign going up along Highway 19 to show current pricing and help folks find the entrance (same turn as the elevator and fertilizer facility).

This is one of those simple things that we think can make a real difference—offering more convenience for the folks doing the heavy lifting.

And while we’re talking about making life easier, don’t forget about the UFC customer portal. It’s your go-to resource to place fuel orders, view contracts, request service and communicate with your energy account manager. If you haven’t logged in lately, take a peek—there’s a lot you can do right from your phone or computer. Visit portal.ufcmn.com to check it out.

As always, thanks for the work you do. Wish you a safe and successful season!
